Residencial
Machico is located in the village centre of Machico.
It is a stone's throw from the beach - about 200 metres, and lodgers
can partake in various sea side activities - including beach volleyball
and shore fishing. There are many other sports facilities in the area
ranging from tennis courts to golf - a six minute drive away. Machico
has excellent restaurants and most of the major restaurants
and snack bars are in walking distance.
Currently
a new Marina is being built in the Machico bay and
it may be the case that by the time you read this the marina has been
completed. Machico is known traditionally as a fishing village.
However, more and more residents live of Machico commute via the new
highway to Funchal each day. Hence the burgeoning middle class and improved
standard of living.
Machico
is also completely crime free and has some of the friendliest
people on the island. It is an excellent area to walk
about and has good temperate and dry weather
the year round.
For visitors
to the island who need a short stay over whilst waiting for a plane
will find the short distance from the airport to the acommodation quick
and inexpensive. A taxi ride should not cost more than € 8,00 Euros
(subject to change).
